Prescription drug abuse is happening in our homes and in many cases leading to heroin abuse – unfortunately no family is immune to this epidemic. Please join us as we bring together a panel of experts to learn the scope of the problem, how lives are being affected, and what is being done to confront this epidemic.
Expert speakers include:
Angela Conover of Partnership for a Drug Free NJ,
who will discuss the importance of a comprehensive multi-media and
multi-cultural public awareness campaign
Chief James Abbott of the West Orange Police Department,
who will discuss Operation HOPE (Heroin/Opiate Prevention Effort), an affiliation between the West Orange Police Department and Integrity House, allowing individuals seeking help for a substance use disorder to get help without fear of arrest
Dr. Lewis Nelson, of Rutgers NJ Medical School,
who will discuss the need for all prescribers to understand the dangers of pain medications and serious consequences of over-prescribing
Dr. William Holubek of CarePoint Health,
who will discuss the importance of alternatives to pain medications,
especially in Emergency Departments
